Major League Baseball grant first of its kind
Great River Greening is the first environmental organization to receive a Major League Baseball grant
The first volunteer planting event at the new Trout Brook Nature Sanctuary in East Saint Paul was part of Twins Hope Week, to celebrate it as an All Star Legacy project supported by MLB Charities, the Twins Community Fund, and the Pohlad Family Foundation.More than 100 Pohlad employees planted 1,600 trees and shrubs on seven of a 42-acre rail yard being transformed into a nature preserve by Saint Paul Parks and Recreation.Great River Greening is taking the lead in partnership with the City of Saint Paul in adding all the vegetation to the site and will engage the community in volunteer planting events over the next few years, as well as youth educational activities at the site.
