Great River Greening is making a difference for the wild and scenic Rum River
November, 2012: Twenty-five landowners with conservation easements on their properties along the Rum River attended a workshop in Cambridge about habitat and shoreland restoration opportunities available to them. The event, held November 17, was hosted by Great River Greening and the easement holders, Minnesota DNR and Minnesota Land Trust, with support from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation and MN DNR Shorelands program. The workshop included a tour of an existing project, an overview and discussion of funding opportunities, and a catered BBQ dinner.Such events have proven very successful in engaging the community and promoting land stewardship. Greening looks forward to holding more, targeting the Rum and other Wild and Scenic Rivers.
