Great River Greening Leadership Update

We have some news at Great River Greening and want to share an update. After a wonderful 13-year run at Great River Greening, our Executive Director, Deborah Karasov has resigned to accept a role with another environmental organization. We are excited to share that, effective April 17, Charlene Briner will join Great River Greening as our Interim Executive Director. Charlene comes us to from the State of Minnesota where she was most recently Deputy Commissioner of Education. In addition, she brings a wealth of experience in public policy, communications, volunteerism and civic engagement. The board and staff are enthused about Charlene’s interim leadership of GRG and are confident that she will be a steady guide during this transition. We are well positioned for success as we head into our busy spring and summer seasons and are excited to work with so many of you to continue our important work of conserving and caring for land and water across Minnesota. In addition, we have initiated a comprehensive search for a new Executive Director to lead this important work. We are partnering with a well-respected non-profit search firm that has extensive experience in placing leaders of non-profit organizations, but also specifically has experience in the conservation space. We have been extremely fortunate to have had Deborah at the helm leading the growth of GRG for the past 13 years and we wish her every continued success in her new endeavors. Please join us in wishing Deborah well and welcoming Charlene. With gratitude,Patti O’Leary, on behalf of the Great River Greening Board of Directors
