Environmental solutions, volunteerism, giving back to the community; what does that all mean? How do you take action, or even know where to start? Let’s start with Great River Greening, which is kicking off an ambitious spring volunteer season to conserve Minnesota’s land and water. What better way to enjoy the outdoors while helping your community?
One of the great things about Great River Greening is that you can be a part of solving Minnesota’s environmental challenges through volunteering. There are many benefits to volunteerism and studies have even proven how helping your community can help you develop understanding, compassion, and empathy. It also builds confidence, teaches you important environmental stewardship skills, and keeps you active. When it comes to conserving the environment, volunteering is a way to give back to the community, a way to meet and connect with new people, and a way to reconnect with nature.
So come out and join Great River Greening for a volunteer event this spring. Meet the incredible ecologists and volunteer supervisors that are passionate about conserving our land and water, and learn small scale solutions from planting to invasive species removal. Staying connected to nature can help in so many ways…it’s powerful, helps improve your mental health as well as reinvigorates your mindset.
