FOREST RESTORATION
Thank you for visiting our website
About Us
As Minnesota’s leader in community-based restoration, Great River Greening is devoted solely to stewardship of our land and water. We engage volunteers of all ages in restoration projects, helping to protect the outdoor places we all know and love.
Forest Restoration
Minnesota’s trees and forests provide shade, wildlife habitat, carbon sequestration, and protect our waterways. Great River Greening has restored more than 47,000 acres of land since our beginning, much of it in forested areas to secure our natural legacy.
Our experienced technicians may use the following restoration techniques as part of our projects:
· Tree removal (clearing out unhealthy/invasive trees to replant native species)
· Prescribed burns
· Seed sowing
· Tree planting
· Understory enhancement (planting native shrubs, flowers, grasses)
