Katie works primarily on the groundbreaking Cooling Minnesota Communities program, which aims to combat extreme heat, enhance climate change resilience, and increase equitable access to tree canopies across the state.

Though born and raised in Minnesota, Katie spent the last ten years in New York City. She has strong feelings about pizza, proper sidewalk etiquette, and the value of urban green spaces. She has more than eight years of experience at NYC Parks fostering community and personal connections to parks and green spaces through public engagement initiatives, collaborations with nonprofit partners, and more.

Katie has an MPA in Environmental Science and Policy from Columbia University and a BS in Environmental Sciences, Policy, and Management from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities. In her free time, Katie enjoys exploring new parks with her dog, watching all sports (but especially women’s sports), and checking out too many books from the library.
