Kateri Routh has served as the Executive Director of Great River Greening since May 2022, having assumed the role on an interim basis in November 2021. With over 20 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, Kateri has been instrumental in steering the organization’s growth and impact since joining as Director of Finance and Administration in 2019. 

In her leadership role, Kateri spearheads the organization’s strategic initiatives, including the development and launch of the Great River Greening’s Vision for 2030, which aims to create healthy, climate change resilient ecosystems throughout the entire State of Minnesota. This vision, with Kateri’s support, led to the development of a new tree canopy program, funded by the USDA Forest Service, supporting five communities in Minnesota with the planting and watering of 10,000 trees over the next five years.  

In her personal life, Kateri enjoys exploring the outdoors with her family, including her two children and husband. She is a passionate birder and nature enthusiast and delights in cultivating her native garden at home in St. Paul. Her deep commitment to environmental sustainability is a fundamental aspect of her life, underscoring her dedication to nurturing resilient ecosystems for future generations. 

Kateri holds a Master's Degree in Public Services Management from DePaul University and a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing from the University of Iowa.
