Join this event at Crosby Farm Park Extension to plant 3,000 tree seedlings in the Mississippi River floodplain. This event will be the culmination of the collaboration between Rotary District 5950, Great River Greening, and The Nature Conservancy to plant over 25,000 trees in Minnesota this Rotary year.Crosby Farm Regional Park is the largest natural park in Saint Paul with 736 acres of floodplain forests, wooded slopes in oak forest/savanna, and natural wetlands. The park is located in the Mississippi National River and Recreation Area and has an extensive trail system which is connected to many other City and State Parks. The restoration work at this event will take place at a new Extension of the Regional Park, located just east of I-35E and just south of Shephard Road, along the Mississippi River corridor. Volunteers will plant a variety of native tree seedlings in this newer and lesser known property. This planting will help increase diversity of the floodplain tree canopy and create a more resilient landscape for wildlife once they've matured, especially with the threat of the decline of ash trees, which are common in this type of woodland.Related article: Connecting a favorite regional park to a new city parkPartners and Funders: Rotary District 5950, City of Saint Paul, Capitol Region Watershed District, Outdoor Heritage Fund, and RBC Blue Water Fund.

• We will meet at Victoria Park and walk down to the Mississippi River floodplain (Crosby Farm Park Extension)
